Susan became CEO of GMA in 2023. A strategic and visionary leader, Susan has a distinguished record of shaping partnerships with individuals, families, and foundations to widen and deepen the impact of their giving. Her experience in philanthropy includes more than 20 years in the community foundation field, including as President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Louisville, Kentucky.
Susan’s career spans the government, civic, nonprofit, and philanthropy sectors. She served as president of the York County (PA) Community Foundation, led the development efforts for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School and the Rhode Island Foundation, consulted on executive search with Egmont Associates and Kittleman & Associates, served as executive director of several nonprofit organizations, and was a policy associate in the Rhode Island Governor’s Office.
Practiced as a certified leadership coach, Susan is adept at asking questions and helping others find the answers. She holds a B.A. from Marquette University and a J.D. from Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University.
Susan grew up with her parents and six siblings in Rhode Island. She now lives just outside of Boston with her partner, Matt, and travels often to visit her daughter in Chicago. Susan enjoys swimming early in the morning and gravitates towards art museums and performing arts programs in her spare time.
